Saki and Yu were the next heir to the throne. Their father, the king, hadn't engage them with any other prince or princessess from other kingdoms as he thought that his childrens should have the freedom to, at least, pick their other half. To him, arrange marriage were something of a burden. It could go really well or one of his child would have to suffer a horrible marriage.
The twins were always by each other's side, learning together, playing together even sleeping together. The maids in the castle has said that they were inseparable. They grew up like their parents, kind-hearted and well-mannered. One day, when the twins were 10, their mother died and their father turned to a cruel man. He was a completely different man. He KILLED anybody who questioned him and the twins often stayed away from him.
5 years later, Yuu walked around the castle perimeter. It was a cold night and he couldn't sleep. Saki was already asleep in her room. Yuu stared at the moon and remembered the memories he made with his mother. A tear rolled down his cheeks and he wiped them away, giving himself a mental pep talk.
"Please! I-I'll leave in the morning. I-I-I just n-need my b-b-b-baby to be born s-safely!" a woman sobbed at the entrance. This commotion cause Yuu to turn his head her way. By the looks of it, the woman couldn't even walk anymore. She was wearing rags and her legs and arms were filled with scratches.
"What's going on here?" The gate guard was caught off guard by Yuu's sudden appearance.
"Y-Young master! This woman wants to stay for the night to give birth to her child."
"Y-Young prince! Please! Help me!" The woman begged, reaching her hand for Yuu. Yuu smiled and ordered the guard to bring her in.
"But young master! The king-"
"He doesn't need to know. If you tell this to him, guard, I will personally make sure you don't live to see another day." Yuu's voice was stern and, for once, the guard saw Yuu glaring. GLARING. He trembled and obeyed. Yuu picked up the woman and carried her to his room, using a secret passage he created when he and Saki got separate rooms.
"T-thank you.. Prince.." the woman muttered. "but.. I don't know when my baby will be born..."
"Shush.. You can stay. I promise I'll protect you from my father.."
"I am sorry to be such a burden.. I promise I'll leave as s-soon as I give birth.."
"Non-sense! Now you stay here and don't go anywhere got it? I'll have my maid take care of you," Yuu smiled, reassuring the woman that it was alright to stay.
About a week later, the king found out and stormed in Yuu's room where, Yuu was currently reading a book while Saki and Mrs. Summers (the pregnant woman) were talking.
"YUU! WHAT IS THIS... THIS... COMMONER DOING HERE?! I WANT HER OUT!!" The king yelled, his face red from anger. Saki jumped and the woman trembled. Yuu stood up from his chair and dropped the book.
"She's pregnant! You can't expect me to just throw her out like that!"
"She is a commoner! She's a low-life! A waste of space!"
"THAT IS IT!" Yuu yelled. "I have had enough of your stupid attitude Father!" He spat out the last word like it was venom. His glare shocked his father.
"You.. You dare disobey me?! I am your father! Your king!" Yuu scoffed.
"Not anymore." He took the sword he kept beside the window and pointed it at his father.
"Yuu! You're not.. thinking.." Saki mumbled. Yuu looked at Saki with a sad smile.
"I have to.. At least then the people would be free of his cruelity.." and with that, Yuu turned to his father and procceded (sp?) to fight him. The guards stood, not actually fighting as they, too, were tired of the king.
The sword-clashing didn't last long as Yuu had trained almost everyday with the best knights from the kingdom as well as other kingdoms. With a sword through the heart, the former king fell to the ground, defeated and the kingdom was set free from his reign.
End
